Welcome to www.hyperion.com (the “Site”), a U.S.-based website owned and operated by Hyperion Therapeutics (“Hyperion”).

Hyperion is committed to safeguarding your privacy, and this privacy policy describes the types of information we collect about you on our Site; how your information may be used and when it may be disclosed; your choices about the use and disclosure of your information; and how your information is protected.

1. Information Collected

We receive and store information about you that you voluntarily provide through the Site, including name and email addresses. You can choose not to provide this information to us, but this may limit the features you are able to access on the Site. For example, some information about you may be required in order for us to receive and respond to your online inquiries.

We also automatically collect information about your computer when you visit the Site. For example, we will collect your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address and web browser software (such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer) and the Uniform Resource Locator (“URL”) for websites that you visit before or after coming to the Site. We use the automatically-collected information to help improve your user experience.

In addition, when you visit the Site, we may assign your computer a "cookie" (a small, unique identifier text file) which is stored on your computer in order for our Site to recognize you when you visit our Site and improve your experience on our Site and features offered on the Site.

The Site is a general audience website and not designed for children under 13 years old. Accordingly, Hyperion will not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site.

3. Disclosure of Your Information

We generally do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties. However, we may disclose your personal information to the following entities:

We may also create anonymous information records from your information to develop content and services and may share this anonymous information with third-party advertisers and investors.

Although we currently do not have a parent company, any subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies of common control (collectively, “Affiliates”), we may in the future. We may share some or all of your information with these Affiliates, in which case we will require our Affiliates to honor this privacy policy.

Other than as set out above, you will be notified when information your provide will be shared with third parties, and you will have an opportunity to opt-out of such sharing.

5. Your Choices With Respect To The Collection and Use of Your Information

  • As noted above, you can choose not to provide Hyperion with your information.
  • You may stop the delivery of commercial email communications by following the instructions to unsubscribe to such communication that accompanies each communication you receive from us. Please note that we may send you other types of transactional and relationship email communications, such as service announcements and administrative notices, without offering you the opportunity to opt out of receiving them.

6. Security

No website can guarantee security and therefore, Hyperion cannot guarantee that no unauthorized individual will obtain access to your information stored on our servers and databases. However, Hyperion has implemented commercially reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and physical security procedures to help protect your information. For example, only authorized employees are permitted to access your information, and they only may do so for permitted business functions.

7. Third Party Websites

Our provision of a link to any other website is for your convenience and does not signify our endorsement of such other website or its content. Websites to which this Site links do not operate under this Privacy Policy. We recommend that you examine the privacy statements posted on those other websites to understand their procedures for collecting, using, and disclosing your information.

8. Changes To This Privacy Policy

Hyperion may update this Privacy Policy in the future to reflect changes in our privacy practices, our Site functionality, or applicable legislation, so please check back often.
